Here's what you've been doing...
-Hal Buller-
Known as Harold at school. Moved to Toronto to attend DeVry. Met my wife Lynda during that time and decided to stay there. Did try to go home but it didn't work out and we moved back to Ontario. Found work as a Service Technician and gradually worked my way up to a Manager position with different companies. During the Bob Rae years of the early 1990's, was laid off and found a job in B.C. Moved out there and lived there for 10 years until my wife decided we were going back to Ontario. By that time my Service Technician position was non existent and I was able to turn my Military Reserve (part time) position into a full time position. Was transferred back to Ontario with the Military and have settled in Oakville, Ontario. Due to mandatory retirement in November my contract was not renewed. Am currently working full time for the Commissionaires. -Rick Turriff- Here's the goods... I live in Terre Haute, Indiana, having moved to the states with the railroad in 1986. -Patty Reichardt (Clarke)- I married Paul 29 years ago, he is older, from St. Pauls, good friends with Dennis Impey as it turned out. We are doing great, 2 kids, adults, living with us still, both in University. Live across the street from Rick Orysiuk. I think your efforts and energy with the web site/rerunion are awesome. I was a behind the scenes Miles Mac student, I worked almost full time in grades 10,11,12 and was dating a Kildonan East guy, but have wonderful memories of Miles Mac. Thanks for including me. -Glen Barrette- ....so I ran into Jamie F the other day and he asked me why I wasn't at the latest '74 reunion. Drat!! You mean I missed ANOTHER ONE?!! I always find out about these things AFTER instead of BEFORE. I think it might have something to do with my unlisted phone number! So that this will NEVER happen again please call me at 555-1212!! Many thanks to Jamie F for enlightening me about this website (weebly.com?); it's nicely done and two thumbs up to whoever's running it (MR?) It was fun to read some of the stuff on the blog. I was especially interested in Eleanor's cleavage situation; thanks for sharing! And it was great to see all those pics with some old(sorry)faces I haven't seen in many a year!! I bump into the odd '74er but surprisingly, not that many. Doug B, Ron H, Greg S, Greg C, Johnny M, Nadine S, Allan C, Sherril L, George M, Glen A, Cheryl & Rick B, Neil B (I've seen that smile before when my suitcase was ransacked by a CBS agent at the airport!!), Mike R, Bruce F, Ronna F, Corey S (wanna go 4 wheelin'?) are but a few of the people that I never seem to run into. I've always lived in N.K., had a second home at Gateway Rec Center for about 14 years and have always been out and about. So where does everyone else live that I never see them?!! Anyways, the connection is made now (make sure you call me!) and hopefully I'll be able to see ALL of your smiling faces soon. Here's wishing all of you guys out there a Merry Christmas and a great New Year, a year when I'll know about it BEFORE instead of AFTER for a change. ciao, Glen B -Carol Picard- Wow! Very cool website -- so thrilled to have found it, and thanks to Jay Blackman for sending it to me. Just sorry it came so long after the reunion party. I've been living in lovely Canmore, AB for the last 20 years, just down the river from Banff, happily married for 16 years and now the mother of a headstrong 14-year-old daughter I'm about to give up to the village to raise. Yes, I was a very late starter. Spent 30 years in journalism in Winnipeg and Edmonton, a two-year-stint in Japan teaching English when I was finally ready for some adventure and am now somewhat semi-retired. In Canmore I started my own newspaper, which we sold five years ago to Black Press, and now I'm trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up some more. (For those of you who actually do remember me, that grow up part is a joke. I never quite hit 5"1' and the cruelest part of aging for me is the shrinkage.) Still keep in touch with a handful of Miles Mac alumni, but not nearly enough. (PS: Dear Webmaster -- can you change the yellow print to something else? My eyesight seems to be failing as well…) -Geraldine Dielschneider (Barker)- Hey everyone, this is where I am. Geraldine lives in Oak Bank. -Lucy (Lucille) Dyck (Wojcikowski)- I got married to my best friend Peter in 1977 and am still married today. We moved to Calgary Alberta where we lived for a few years but returned to Winnipeg in the mid 80's. We have three sons Nick (27), Tim (25), and Phil (23). We lived in Transcona but now reside in N.K. and enjoy camping. I work in my neighborhood at a local video store and have been there for several years. I wish the class of 74 a happy reunion, as I will not be able to attend. Great job on the web site. -Andy Hill- Hey folks number one from brothers 3 . C'mon down to 660 the place to go, Kernhill Furniture... blah blah blah. Might as well get a free plug in here since you can't change this station. I am still working the same job since school for those who are looking in or who are out of Winnipeg's radio broadcast area. Since school I've lived in EK then NK, to Elmwood for a while, back to NK now north of East St. Paul, just before Lockport. I have 2 beautiful little girls, Georgia, 8 and Shelby, 6...yes it took me a long time to figure it out. My better half is Deb Synkiw from East St. Paul for those who may not know her. A little white kleenex box with legs for a dog named KC. The girls like to put a pink collar on the dog for dad to take it for a walk (yay). Still playing hockey, got a little thicker but still just as tall. Still have my hair. Most weekends at 11th wonder of the world, Grand Beach, still keep in touch with the more beer guys (about 10 of us from Miles Mac days) at least once per year. Hopefully they will put their 2 cents into this forum. I am hoping to make the Friday night . Good work on this project, and lets hope for a good turnout for the '74 homecoming of 2010. -Greg Collicutt- Aloha, everyone! I sure am glad that this is happening. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again. I still live in St.Clement, (just north of East St. Paul), with my wife Bev of 28 years, and my two sons, David 24 and Justin 21, and our Disc Dog, Boomer 4. I've been with the Winnipeg Fire Department for 27 years and still loving it. Still quite active and enjoying life to the fullest. -Beverley Josefchuk (Westcott)- Well, after 25 years being married as Bev Buhse, with 3 wonderful kids and living in Whyteridge, I left my ex in 2003 and married a wonderful man, Carl, in 2005. Unfortunately, we were married for only 1 year when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died 17 months later. My three children have been very supportive to me throughout this time, and are all now married and living around Winnipeg. I am the proud grandmother of Connor James, age 2, with another grandchild due in September. After Carl died I retired from working at the University of Manitoba and looked after Connor during the days these past two years when Sandi went back to work. But now I am engaged to a lovely man (Doug) from Ontario and life is beginning to take on new meaning for me again. I have a comfy home in River Park South in South St. Vital and we are busy doing some home renovations. I would love to reconnect with some of my fellow grads of MMC, especially in light of the fact that having not lived in E.K. since 1987. I have not run into anyone I know at the grocery store for ages!! The "Nob" is only 10 mins away!!! -Bev Adams (Smith)-
I have lived in Stony Plain, Alberta since 1980. Passing the gauntlet of teaching Jr. High kids to my son, Luke, (24), I now teach adults. After surviving breast cancer, I have been priviledged to speak to women's groups about the journey! What an unexpected blessing! My daughter Aimee (26) and her husband Scott are raising 3 kids across the pasture from us. My husband, Bryan and I (married 29 years) are impatiently waiting for our fourth grandchild to be born (due any day). I'm sure you all remember how "coordinated" I was/am, so I tend to do the "slower" activites. I walk, swim, and practice pilates. I'm so jazzed about this "reunion"! It will be great to see everyone again. Great job on the web site M and J! -Janet Walker-
I am living the life I imagined. Consulting from home on the Seine River in old St Vital. Happily married to Toby and enjoying son Davis, now 18. It is wonderful to have reconnected with fellow classmates at the Nob ... I look forward to reuniting with high school friends on the weekend of July 23rd! www.janetwalker.ca -Janis Hughes -
Having failed as a waitress, archaeological field labourer, youth educator, language teacher and social activist, I seem to have found my niche as a French-English translator and, believe it or not, I meet most of my deadlines! I tried living elsewhere, but was always drawn back to the big skies and the big lakes of the prairies. A lovely husky-shepherd named Stella adopted me six years ago and I have eight nieces and nephews with whom to indulge my inner child. -Janis Klassen- (Budnik)
Hello Everyone! Still hooked to high school sweetheart, Frank-34 yrs give or take. We have two awesome boys, Jarod, 31, and Joshua, 27. We do not have a pet but I am adopting Janie's crazy Chihuahua for the best pooch contest..move over Stella & Cooper! Other than a 2 yr stint at CDI College as Financial Administrator, I have given 'Sals' a combined 25 yrs (& counting) of service where I have been able to fulfill my passion as a Restaurant Operations Manager. We recently left our beloved E.K. for a more maintenance free lifestyle in preparation of retirement 'living the Arizona Dream'. Little known fact... despite finishing with honors, I had to go before a board to battle for my Diploma because I missed 1 day more than was acceptable and still graduate--an entire half year + 1 day--one too many days cruisin' with Karin Schulze to the Half Moon! How apropos to hold the reunion in this special 'homecoming' year--looking forward to one great party--see you soon. |
-George Murray-
I'm residing in Royalwood and retired from the Police Service in 2007. Currently employed with MPI as a Fire Investigator. Married for 23 years and have two sons & one daughter. Purchased a residence in Arizona last year and plan on retiring to this location in the near future. -Chris Nickol- Tell you when I'm there!!!! Oh yeah, last name used to be Nickolievich! -Peter Wilton- Hey everyone, this is where I am. Peter lives in Edmonton. -Eleanor Hrabowych (Gaudreau)- Hi All. Well, as luck would have it I live in East St. Paul, and so the commute to the events will be very short for me. I have been married for 25 years now, and have 2 great kids. My husband Roman is an executive for a financial institution. My daughter Alexandra just finished her major degree in Microbiology and was accepted into medical school for September, and my son Daniel who has been playing junior A hockey has been offered an NCAA scholarship and is committed to suit up for Concordia in the fall. I am teaching in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Manitoba following a 20 year career primarily in ICU/Emergency care. Most of you remember me as the tall skinny dark haired jock...Well, although I still play soccer and curl, I am not quite as active as I used to be. I have been blonde for at least 10 years ( and by the way, I really do have more fun now ), and while I looked like a zipper in high school, there is now a coat attached to it. So if a strange blond curvy woman taps you on the shoulder and says Hi...you never know...it might be me! -Les Griffin- After Miles Mac I went to U of M for a year and then to Red River where I graduated with an Electrical Certificate. After that I joined MTS and have been there now 34 years. I've been married to a great girl, Maureen since 1983 and together we have 2 daughters, Ashlee who graduated from Miles Mac in 2009 and is now attending U o W studying criminal justice and Lindsey who is 16 and is in grade 12 at Miles Mac and a member of the 2010 city champion Miles Mac buckeyes female hockey team. Still living in beautiful down town North Kildonan where I've coached the girls in soccer, ringette, baseball and hockey. I still play hockey and baseball in the area. Enjoyed reading all the updates. -Isla Chartrand (Scarth)- Well here goes, my husband Terry and I have been married for 30 yrs and raised 4 children, Kandel (28) Social Worker in Wpg, Megan (25) Gr 4 Teacher in The Pas, Kyle (23) Truck Driver (rd construction), Katie (20) going to school in the fall for Conservation Officer. We live in Waterhen, Mb., Terry's hometown. Raised cattle for most of our married life until the BSE hit so we sold out. Terry drives a school bus and I used to work for our local gov. as an administrator for 21 yrs until I was diagnosed with MS 5 yrs ago. Now I am fighting from home to try and get the testing and treatment here for CCSVI, which I hope will help lessen my symptoms. Last spring we designed a home for us to accommodate my deteriorating abilities. Terry and the kids started building the house July 22/09 and we moved in Dec 19/09. I love my new home and it means the world to me that my husband and kids built the whole thing from the ground up. After High School I worked in Lynn Lake at a bank, then to Thompson, Paint Lake actually and worked at a campground. Ear Falls, Ont worked at a hunting/fishing lodge, back to Wpg to work at a trust company and then to Red River and took Radio Operating, moved to Dauphin and worked building camper trailers until Terry and I got married. Interesting life needless to say and glad I have had these opportunities. My life is a struggle these days but we take one day at a time and now hope for the best. Have a great reunion and all the best to everyone. -Don Hinds- Well after I got out of jail (and I never had sex with that woman), I decided to do some good, so I went into the mental health field. I have been married for 29.73 years but whose counting? We have 4 adult children....(does that make sense?). I have actually only had sex twice and we don't have twins so I'm not sure what that means. Remember, I spent 11 years in high school so maybe one of you can explain this to me at the reunion. I was going to bring the kids to play bocce on Saturday, but the warden wouldn't give any of them a day pass. Well, it's just as well because they look pretty silly in those striped pyjamas anyway. I have no friends, but lots of people I owe money to, so they are even better than friends because they come to see me on a regular basis. While all of you graduated in '74, that is the total of my final exam scores for 5 courses. I was given a conditional graduation diploma in 1974...the condition was that I don't ever come back and that I agree to have a vasectomy to end the Hinds "legacy". Well it turns out the surgeon was a distant relative and performed a lobotomy by mistake (wrong head!). Oh well, I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy, but I'll live with it. Looking forward to seeing all of you even if you haven't got a clue who I am. I will be the oldest looking guy there, so it should be easy for you. I am 5 feet 2 inches wide and weigh 640 pounds.....if my diuretic worked the night before. My friends tell me I am a dead ringer for Kirsty Alley, except my chest is a little bigger than hers and I have a thicker moustache. I promise I won't steal the silverware again and I will even bring some chipped beef from our cafeteria to the party. See you soon. -Michael Resch- Hey all! I'm still living in E.K., still married to my beautiful E.K. wife Kim, and we have two amazing E.K. children, Danielle, 21, and Jon 17. We also have a handsome yellow lab named Buddy, and two cats, a mother and daughter named Squeak and Ellie. Pics to follow! I've been at Canada Post for 35 years (eek!) and a letter carrier for about 32 of those. What could possibly be better than getting paid to go for a nice walk? I love to run, cross country ski, cycle, kayak and play tennis, though not necessarily all at the same time. Can't wait to see everyone again! -Janie Kupskay- (Fenn) Was married for 27 years and am now on my own with my two beautiful daughters, Alyce (22) and Sara (21). I am a high school counsellor for the River East Transcona School Division and love my job. Both my daughters are in education - Alyce for early years at U of W and Sara for high school math and science through the U of M. I also book emergency Ortho surgeries, call codes and answer calls for the Concordia Hospital on the weekends. I have a golden lab cross, 2 little yorkies and a crazy chihuahua (I am no longer allowed near any dog rescue operations) To say my life is full is an understatement. Can't wait to meet everyone again and catch up in July. -Carol Jeffrey (Marshall)- Hello and greetings from Kingston, Ontario. I am a Registered Nurse, spent 20 years in High Risk Perinatology, and am presently working on a casual basis in Long Term Care. My husband and I raised our 2 children on a farm and after his death, I moved into Kingston and started a new life. Worked for 10 years as the General Manager of a Tall Ship which offers sail training for youth and then decided I had better learn how to sail! I have just returned from a 5 month sailing adventure in the Caribbean and looking forward to returning in the fall. Life has been a great adventure; from serving on a medical mission to Malowi, Africa, on stage with amateur theater, volunteer work as music teacher in Primary School, clowning as BoBo, participating in the lives of my 2 grandchildren, and travelling. I look forward to seeing old friends - remembering the past and sharing the present. -Jeff Douglas- Hey Folks... J D here..... I'll give you the "COLE'S NOTES" version ( I'm sure there's a few of us who remember using those at least once!) of my life since MMC. New Flyer, CNR, Group Home (as a Counselor NOT a resident but I did cross professional paths with the Judge who gave me a slap on the wrist for that ring thing with R F), McGavin's, Semi-Retired/Self Employed then, in 1986, found something I actually enjoyed doing and have been a somewhat successful REALTOR for the last 24+ years ( www.jeffdouglas.ca ). As I've said many times, I may not have had the best childhood, but it was/is definitely one of the longest.... Got married March/87 (before I turned 30 as I promised my Mom) + moved to 500 block of Helmsdale, had 3 children in 3 years ( Justin (88), Jesse (89), Kayla (90) ) and moved to the 400 block of Neil (Gary + Dawn Peters' old house). Divorced in 96 and in 98 moved to, wait for it, the 500 block of Bronx, up the street from the old homestead where Mom still resides. My beautiful Brasilian soul-mate (Cristine) moved in with me in 2001 and we got married 04/04/04 (won't be forgetting THAT date). What else can I say... just 8-10 kilos over my high school weight but it's distributed a little differently. I'm told I still have a cute/handsome face ... but there's definitely A LOT MORE FACE then there was in High School.... Makes sense, as there were quite a few people in MMC who said I was Most likely to Recede... I wish they would have told me that my "fly away hair" ....wasn't coming back....:-) lol . Enough for now, good thing I gave you the "short" version. I don't think I'll be able to make the reunion as I'm usually away on holidays the last 2 weeks of July, but I do wish you all, the best of luck and hope this reunion is a huge success. If you need help with things, let me know and I'll see if I can lend a hand. All the Best to the 74 and other MMC Grads . I'll leave you with these words of a wise man..... "It's Mandatory to Grow Old ..... It's Not Mandatory to Grow Up." .......(George Carlin - 05/37-06/08). |
