It is likely that most women out there are familiar with the o.b. Ultra Tampon kerfuffle, wherein manufacturer Johnson & Johnson decided to discontinue the product without notice or prior warning. I recall reading about it in Macleans magazine of all places (yes, I read it cover to cover, I love it!). The resulting groundswell of anger from women all over North America created a publicity nightmare for the company. Websites sprung up, threatening a "girlcott" of the company's products. In a cheeky twist, the J & J Company has created a personal apology page, where after inserting your name you will have a hunky singer offering you a personal power-ballad apology, replete with flower petals and a sky-writing plane spelling out your name, and ending with a $2.00 coupon offer. Their PR dept. really nailed this one, but judging by the comments I have read regarding this stunt some decided that it was too little too late. Nevertheless, I thought it was very clever, and worth a peek. But then, what do I know? I'm a guy... Check it out yourself @ www.obtampons.ca/apology
