60th Anniversary Committee
Monday, April 25th, 2011 – Room 5
In attendance: Donna Cudmore, Ron Storozuk, Debb Brethauer, Susan Tighe, Filippo Zimarino, Vivien Laurie, Carmen Dondo, Rick Dondo and Maureen Silk as Recording Secretary.
Meeting called to order at 7:02 p.m. Maureen Silk acted as Chair in Jim Smith’s absence.
Ron gave a financial summary of the recent Sisters of The Holy Rock concert. 219 tickets were sold. A total profit of $1,936.12 was realized, with the profits being split with the 2012 Grad Committee. Each group received $968.01. Positive feedback was received regarding the concert, especially at having it held in the Theatre instead of the Gym. There is a balance of approximately $1,900.00 in the account.
Vivien advised the 2012 Grad Committee has run into difficulty booking their Safe Grad event. The only date they could get at the venue they want is June 29th. As this impacts on the availability of students for the Musical Revue and Open House, Vivien asked if the Committee would be willing to switch the date. Discussion was held and it was agreed to move the 60th Anniversary to accommodate the school.
Motioned by Ron Storozuk and seconded by Susan Tighe to move the dates of the 60th Anniversary event to the weekend of June 22nd and 23rd, 2012 to accommodate a conflict with the Class of 2012 Safe Grad. Carried.
Vivien will advise the River East Transcona School Division and Maureen will contact Melrose Park Community Centre to see if the dates of the Wine and Cheese reception and Beer Garden can be re-scheduled. Ron will contact Rachelle Devine to see if she still wants to assist with organizing the Beer Garden. Ron will also contact Jordan Jackiew and Zane Zalis to advise them of the change.
Filippo advised his cousin is an Editor at The Winnipeg Sun and he will be conducting an interview with Stan Carbone to be published sometime in the Fall.
Ron advised Windsor Park Collegiate is having their reunion next weekend (April 30th – May 1st). Apparently they have a wonderful website and registration process. Ron advised Shelly Makus has agreed to assist with the design of the registration package and he will see if she will produce business cards with the event information to have ready to distribute at the May meeting.
Ron feels the idea of charging a $10.00 entry fee is a good one and he has not received any negative comments from anyone regarding this. Vivien suggested providing lanyards with the school logo to those who pay for the whole event.
Vivien advised that merchandise will be ordered for the event. Items such as sweatshirts, t-shirts, sweatpants, golf shirts, baseball caps and toques are available through the school supplier. Items such as pins, coffee mugs, pens and lanyards are available through Louise Bowles. Filippo suggested having a Silent Auction at the wine and cheese reception and donating some sweatshirts. This was agreed to. Vivien asked if people would be able to purchase merchandise with Visa or MasterCard. Ron advised a credit card machine was rented for the 50th Anniversary. Vivien believes a debit machine is used in the Cafeteria and this could be utilized.
Maureen will speak with the President of Bronx Park Community Centre to see if space is available on their digital sign to promote the event.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
