Hey all. This is a shameless but well deserved plug for my dear sister-in-law and good friend Kathryne Grisim (nee Kapilik), and her fascinating website called Food Musings. Kath's foodie blog is a personal collection of travel stories, recipes, fave restaurants and celebrating life with food. Kath is an absolutely beautiful soul and a gifted writer, with a keen eye for amazing food and travel photography. If you love food, family and travel (and who doesn't?) you'll adore her as much as I do. Check it out below.
Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.
Well for example, the other day I went into town and went to a shop. I was only in there for about 5 minutes. When I came out there was a police officer writing out a parking ticket. I went up to him and said, "Come on copper, how about giving a senior a break?" He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a Nazi. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tires.
So I called him a piece of dog poop. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket.
This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn't really care. I came into town by bus. I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. It's important at my age.

Just a heads up that teacher, renaissance man, Harley rider, musician and fellow grad John Melnyk and his band are playing a two night gig this Friday and Saturday (Aug 20 and 21) at Deen's Caribbean Restaurant and Patio at 205 Marion St.(see google map link below). If you're in the city on the weekend come on down and check them out. Weather permitting, they'll be playing on the patio, with first set starting at 7 p.m. A fine way to celebrate a summer's eve in the 'Peg. Perhaps a reunion flash mob will materialize...
In 1977, I worked with grad Amy Bereziuk on the MS Lord Selkirk. After seeing her name on the Missing Persons list, I started looking. When I finally found her on Facebook, this was her reaction: WOW...FRICKIN...WOW... CAN'T BELIEVE YOU EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT ME OR FOUND ME...THAT IS JUST AWESOME...EMAIL IS xxxxxxxx...WOW That reaction was SO worth it! With a view to an even better turnout at the next reunion, I challenge all of you to make the effort to find other MMC '74 grads and get them registered on this website.

Inflation continued to spiral out of control around the world, reaching 11.3% in the USA and 12.6% in Canada, as the global recession deepened. The famous skeleton of "Lucy", who lived between 3 and 3.9 million years ago is discovered in Ethiopia . More and more smaller digital based consumer products appear in stores and the earliest forms of Word Processors appear which resemble a typewriter more than a computer. After the findings of the Watergate Scandal Richard Nixon becomes the first US president forced to resign from office.
