We are so going to miss having you there, Carol. Good luck with your move.
Hello everyone, So sorry to have to cancel my planned trip to Winnipeg for the reunion. I have created a self induced life crisis by deciding to downsize?? to a 5 bedroom Victorian home and moving day is the end of July. Good news is that if anyone needs a place to stay while visiting Gananoque, Ontario you know who to call. I'm sure I can find the box that has all the old yearbooks (still unpacked from my last move 6 yrs ago). I wish you all well for the reunion...wouldn't it be great if you didn't need to wear a nametag to be recognized. Congrats to the organizing comittee for all your hard work. Have a great reunion.... Hey Mike
I was trying to go through my closet and get rid of some of the crap I have had, I think, since the '70s' ; I don't want to brag or make anyone jealous or anything, but I can STILL fit into the earrings I wore in high school. That has to count for something. -Janie Kupskay- Hi Mike,
You're right, it has been some time since I've seen members of the Class of 74. I've been back in Winnipeg for about ten years now and I have run across Rick Schwartz, as the law firm he's at provides our legal support. If you remember, in school I was a fairly mouthy guy. Well, I actually get paid for it as a staff rep for a union (Communication, Energy and Paperworkers). I look after the Winnipeg Free Press, The Brandon Sun and the Thunder Bay Chronicle to name a few of my assignments. Who would have thought it, given my limited social skills in high school. I'm not positive that I'll be able to make the events as I'm just getting back from meetings out of town and starting vacation but if I can I will. I did mention to a reporter friend of mine that we are the class getting ready to turn 55, some of us are looking after aging parents, some have children still at home and some too are now grandparents. We are in a unique group as we prepare to turn 55 next year. If it's possible for the paper to do a story, do you think people would mind talking to a reporter? I realize that not everyone is comfortable with it but I'm sure it would be in good taste. I will keep you posted, but let me know your thoughts. I can't guarantee it's going to happen, but it's worth having the discussion in advance. Cheers John Comments anyone? -M- Hi. Don't know if I can make the reunion but if anybody's interested, I'm playing, with my band, at the Bella Vista restaurant tonight, Fri June 11 and Sat June 12. 9:30 to close. Love to see you there!
-Gene Pyrz- Editors note: My good friend Gene has been splitting his time between Winnipeg and an acting career in Toronto, where among other gigs he had a substantial role in "Cinderella Man" with Russell Crowe in 2005. Also a fabulous musician. You should check out the band! M A Beautiful Message About Growing Old: Shit...
I forgot what it was. -Submitted by Carol Ellis (Lion)- Wed, 09 Jun 2010 6:47:27 pm Ah yes. Did I tell you all that I forgot to take the money the ATM spit out at me the other week? I realized it when I got to the lunch end of Winnipeg Square, but of course, by the time I got back to the banking end, it was in someone else's pocket. The customer rep for the bank was sweet enough to tell me it happens more than one would think. -Janis Hughes- |
