You're right, it has been some time since I've seen members of the Class of 74. I've been back in Winnipeg for about ten years now and I have run across Rick Schwartz, as the law firm he's at provides our legal support. If you remember, in school I was a fairly mouthy guy. Well, I actually get paid for it as a staff rep for a union (Communication, Energy and Paperworkers). I look after the Winnipeg Free Press, The Brandon Sun and the Thunder Bay Chronicle to name a few of my assignments. Who would have thought it, given my limited social skills in high school.
I'm not positive that I'll be able to make the events as I'm just getting back from meetings out of town and starting vacation but if I can I will. I did mention to a reporter friend of mine that we are the class getting ready to turn 55, some of us are looking after aging parents, some have children still at home and some too are now grandparents. We are in a unique group as we prepare to turn 55 next year. If it's possible for the paper to do a story, do you think people would mind talking to a reporter? I realize that not everyone is comfortable with it but I'm sure it would be in good taste. I will keep you posted, but let me know your thoughts. I can't guarantee it's going to happen, but it's worth having the discussion in advance.
Cheers
John
