Cheers,

Sometime back in December, Bev A. (S) was reminiscing in this column about her time in the choir at college, waayy back when. We challenged her to send us a copy of her performance, which was relegated to cassette tape, and we promised to create an mp3 file to share with you. Well, the tape finally arrived, but, not only was it at least a third generation copy of the original, it was re-recorded on what could only be charitably described as a well-used tape. In short, the sound quality was, um, abysmal is the word that springs to mind. Yet there, in amongst the hiss and crackle of this terribly degraded tape was a beautiful voice, soaring over the orchestra and choir like an angel on high, as our own Bev sings the solo for "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth". I was truly blown away. Who knew we were once in the presence of such greatness? Below you'll find the audio player where you too can listen in on something special. Cheers, M

I remember one day at MMC after pys-ed class. We were changing in the gals locker room and I heard someone start singing. It was the most beautiful voice and I got chills over my whole body. I looked up and it was Bev! Who knew she could sing like that! She was so modest about it.

I do regret that I was not present at the original performance as the recording is just good enough to give me an appreciation of the immense talent it featured. Bravo, Bev! I fear you will not escape a command performance the next time we meet. ;-)
